IFC 4.3 bridge example — a real IFC4X3 file to download
Looking for a sample IFC 4.3 file? Download Demo Bridge SO 201 — a complete IFC4X3 ADD2 bridge model with a proper IfcBridge spatial structure, pile foundations, georeferencing and deterministic GUIDs. It was created entirely in the browser with IFCraft and validates with 0 issues, so you can use it to test IFC 4.3 support in viewers, checkers and data pipelines.

What is inside the IFC 4.3 file
| Aspect | Content |
|---|---|
| Schema | IFC4X3 ADD2 (IFC 4.3, ISO 16739-1:2024), Reference View |
| Spatial structure | IfcProject → IfcSite → IfcBridge → 12 IfcBridgePart: foundations per support, substructure (abutments O1/O4, piers P2/P3), superstructure, surface structure |
| Elements | 91 products: 30 IfcPile, 17 IfcBeam, 13 IfcSlab, 12 IfcFooting, 6 IfcWall, 4 IfcEarthworksFill, 4 IfcCovering, 2 IfcColumn, 2 IfcPipeSegment, 1 IfcPavement |
| Georeferencing | IfcMapConversion + IfcProjectedCRS — S-JTSK / EPSG:5514 (Czech national grid) |
| GUIDs | Deterministic — regenerating the same model yields identical GlobalIds |
| Validation | 0 issues — schema + WHERE-rule validation with ifcopenshell |
How this example was made
The bridge started as a plain Rhino 3DM model. In IFCraft its layers were mapped to IFC classes in an element tree, the IfcBridge spatial structure and the georeferencing were added, and the IFC 4.3 file was exported — all in the browser, with no upload and no desktop BIM software. The user guide builds this exact demo step by step, so you can reproduce the file yourself for free.
What to use the sample for
- Test whether your viewer or CDE really opens IFC 4.3 (IFC4X3) — including IfcBridge and IfcBridgePart
- Check how your software reads IfcMapConversion georeferencing (large S-JTSK coordinates)
- Use it as a fixture in importers, converters and automated pipelines
- Re-validate it yourself — e.g. with the buildingSMART validation service or ifcopenshell
FAQ
Is this a valid IFC 4.3 file?
Yes. The file is IFC4X3 ADD2 (Reference View) and passes ifcopenshell validation — schema plus WHERE rules — with 0 issues. You can re-check it yourself, for example with the buildingSMART validation service.
Can I use the sample file in my own tests?
Yes — download it and use it freely to test IFC 4.3 support in viewers, checkers, importers and data pipelines.
Does the example include an alignment (IfcAlignment)?
No — this sample focuses on the bridge structure and georeferencing. IFCraft also exports IfcAlignment with linear placement (IfcLinearPlacement) from LandXML; see LandXML to IFC 4.3.
How was this IFC 4.3 bridge created?
Entirely in the browser with IFCraft, from a Rhino 3DM model — the user guide walks through the same demo step by step.
